Jet Ski Rentals in Miami — Quick Answers (FAQ)

💵

How much are jet ski rentals in Miami with Feeling Yachty?

Jet ski rentals in Miami with Feeling Yachty are typically $175 per hour with a 3-hour minimum, quoted as Todas las tasas incluidas (standard fuel, taxes and basic marina fees), plus a 10% gratuity.

Pricing is usually per jet ski and can vary by date, holiday, group size and pickup location. We’ll confirm the exact jet ski add-on rate for your yacht charter or stand-alone session before you pay.

Is this a jet ski add-on to my yacht rental or a stand-alone rental?

Most of our jet ski rentals in Miami are booked as a jet ski add-on to your Feeling Yachty yacht charter, so everything runs from the same itinerary and crew communications.

We do offer limited stand-alone jet ski slots on select dates. Availability depends on your group size, preferred time and which pickup locations are open that day. The fastest way to check is to WhatsApp or call us with your date and preferred area.

📍

Where do the jet skis leave from, and what are the best locations in Miami?

We work with multiple jet ski pickup locations in Miami, including popular ride areas near Miami Marine Stadium & Virginia Key, North Bay (Pelican Harbor, 79th Street Causeway), Haulover, and central Biscayne Bay with downtown views.

Your exact pickup dock and jet ski route depend on your yacht, date, time, wind and boat traffic. We always confirm the meeting point and Google Maps pin in your final itinerary.

For a visual overview, check the Best Jet Ski Locations in Miami map section above on this page.

📋

Do I need a boating license or test to drive a jet ski in Miami?

Yes — Florida has specific rules for jet ski (PWC) operators. If you were born on or after January 1, 1988, you must complete an approved boating safety course or a temporary certificate test and carry your card or certificate while operating.

You can review the official requirements and approved testing options here:

- Florida Boating Safety Education ID Card (FWC)
- Temporary Boating Safety Certificate Test (FWC)

After booking, we’ll send a reminder and links so your designated drivers can complete the required test before your jet ski rental in Miami.

👥

How many jet skis and riders can we book for our group?

Capacity depends on which location, day and partner dock we’re using, but most setups allow:

- 1–2 riders per jet ski (weight limits apply)
• Multiple jet skis for larger groups, when available
• Rotating riders so everyone gets time on the water

Tell us your group size and ages and we’ll recommend the right number of jet skis and the best pickup location for your charter day.

🎒

What should I bring for my jet ski rental in Miami?

For jet ski sessions, we recommend bringing:

• Swimsuit and towel
- Reef-safe sunscreen (cream is better than spray on windy days)
• Sunglasses with a strap and a hat
• Light snacks and water if you’re not already on a yacht
• Government-issued ID and proof of your boating safety card or temporary certificate if required

Keep valuables minimal; jet ski riding is wet, and storage space at the dock can be limited.

🌊

Are beginners okay, and how fast do we go on the jet skis?

Beginners are absolutely welcome. Your guide will give a safety briefing at the dock, explain controls and hand signals, and start at a comfortable speed until you’re confident.

We always follow posted speed limits, no-wake zones and manatee areas. In open, legal speed-limit stretches, you can enjoy faster rides when conditions allow — but safety and visibility always come first.

What happens if the weather is bad on the day of my jet ski rental?

We keep a close eye on wind, rain, seas and lightning. If conditions are clearly unsafe or not suitable for jet skis, we’ll work with you to reprogramar o abonar according to our fair-weather policy.

Light rain or scattered clouds often still allow for great rides. Strong winds, heavy rain or electrical storms may require a route change, delayed start, or moving your jet ski time to another window in the day.

🥂

Can we drink alcohol if we’re renting jet skis as an add-on?

If you’ve added jet skis to a Feeling Yachty yacht charter, the yacht portion of your trip may be BYOB-friendly for guests 21+ depending on the vessel and captain.

However, anyone who is driving a jet ski should not drink before or during their ride. Jet skis are powerful, and Florida law treats impaired operation very seriously. The best plan is: ride first, celebrate later.

🔒

Are jet ski rentals private to our group or shared with other people?

Jet ski setups are usually arranged so your party keeps your own jet skis within a guided group or follow-the-leader format. You won’t be sharing a single jet ski with strangers.

On busy days, there may be other groups launching from the same dock, but your guide will keep your itinerary, pace and route tailored to your booking and comfort level.

Florida Jet Ski & PWC Laws — Quick Legal Guide Leyes para Jet Skis y Motos de Agua en Florida — Guía Rápida

This bilingual cheat sheet summarizes key Florida laws for jet skis and personal watercraft (PWCs). It’s based on Florida Statute § 327.39 (Personal watercraft regulated), the boating safety education requirement, and FWC boating regulations. This is a general summary, not legal advice — always review the official rules before you ride.

✔ Everyone on a jet ski or PWC — and anyone being towed — must wear a non-inflatable, USCG-approved life jacket.
✔ If the PWC has a lanyard-type engine cut-off switch, it must be attached to the operator whenever underway.
No PWC operation from 30 minutes after sunset to 30 minutes before sunrise, even with navigation lights.
✔ Operators born on or after Jan 1, 1988 generally need a Boating Safety Education ID Card or temporary certificate for 10+ HP engines.
✔ Follow all no-wake, manatee and speed-zone markers; no reckless wake-jumping, spraying, or weaving through congested traffic.
Reminder This is a simplified guide. Always check Florida Statutes Chapter 327 and official FWC boating regulations for full, current rules.
Rule 1 Regla 1

Life Jackets (PFDs) — Mandatory on Jet Skis

Chalecos Salvavidas (PFD) — Obligatorios en Jet Skis

  • On a personal watercraft, everyone riding or being towed must wear a non-inflatable, USCG-approved life jacket used according to the approval label.
  • The PWC must also meet general equipment rules (extra PFDs, sound-producing device, etc.) under Florida boating regulations and USCG requirements.
Rule 2 Regla 2

Engine Cut-Off Lanyard & Safe Control

Llave de Hombre al Agua y Control Seguro

  • If your jet ski has a lanyard-type engine cut-off switch, Florida law requires it to be attached to the operator (vest, belt, or wrist) whenever the PWC is underway.
  • Know how your jet ski steers and stops — backing completely off the throttle can reduce steering response on many PWCs, so practice safe stopping distances.
Rule 3 Regla 3

Daylight-Only Operation

Uso Solo en Horario Diurno

  • You cannot operate a jet ski or PWC de 30 minutes after sunset to 30 minutes before sunrise, even if it has navigation lights.
  • Even during legal hours, avoid riding in fog, heavy rain or low visibility where it’s hard to see other boats, markers, or swimmers.
Rule 4 Regla 4

Stay Clear of Docks, Swimmers & No-Wake Zones

Mantente Lejos de Muelles, Bañistas y Zonas de No-Wake

  • It is illegal to operate a PWC so the operator or passenger could collide or is likely to collide with another vessel, dock, bridge, buoy, or any fixed object.
  • Follow all no-wake and manatee protection zones. Avoid wake-jumping close to other boats, spraying other people on purpose, or weaving through congested traffic — these can be treated as reckless operation.
Rule 5 Regla 5

Age Limits, Boater Card & Temporary Test

Edad Mínima, Tarjeta Náutica y Examen Temporal

  • No one under 14 may operate a personal watercraft on Florida waters, and it is unlawful to allow someone under 14 to operate your PWC.
  • You must be at least 18 years old to rent a boat or PWC in Florida. Many liveries will check your ID before releasing the jet ski.
  • Anyone born on or after Jan 1, 1988 who operates a vessel of 10 HP or more (including jet skis) generally needs either a Florida Boating Safety Education ID Card o un 90-day temporary certificate from an FWC-approved exam provider.
Rule 6 Regla 6

Registration, Rentals & Local Ordinances

Registro, Renta y Reglas Locales

  • Most jet skis in Florida must be titled, registered, and display FL numbers and a validation decal. Rental liveries handle this for you, but private owners are responsible for compliance.
  • Counties and cities (like Miami-Dade, Miami and Miami Beach) may have extra rules on zones, speeds, and rental operations. Always confirm local ordinances and posted signs before riding.
